Black and white hoops is the oldest of Ayr's two traditional colours schemes but plain white shorts and black shorts have generally been preferred since 1938. In my humble opinion, hoops are much more distinguished and echo the fact that this style remained popular in Scotland long after it fell out of fashion in England. The change strip is the latest version of Adidas' Regista design.

The white strips decorated with gold and black bands revived in recent years have proved popular and deservedly so. This season Joma have served up a new variation on the theme. The change strip, an unfamiliar combination for Dumbarton, is described by the club's Commercial Director as, "A wee leap of faith." He also points out a link with the club's past. In 1889 the original Dumbarton club merged with rivals Dumbarton Athletic who wore red and black stripes at the time. But of course, regular visitors to HFK already knew that.

United had a disastrous season last term, finishing a distant last in the Premiership. Their kits for the new season are hard to miss especially as the goalkeeper will wear a brilliant yellow outfit.

Not so long ago the Pars faced bankruptcy and had dropped into the third tier. Now they are back after winning the League One title last season. We have two very fine strips to enjoy here, with broad black stripes and red trim as first choice. I particularly like the change shirt which has a horizontal band reminiscent of Sampdoria's famous tops. This is not a coincidence: Joma now supply the Italian club's kit and market it as their Liga design.

The Bairns made it to the play-off final and led 1-0 after the first leg but were overwhelmed 4-0 in the return by Kilmarnock. Their new Puma strips feature the attractive vertical stripes seen on Italy's change shirts in Euro 2016.

When the club revealed the team's new Nike Park Derby shirts they were overwhelmed by the storm of protest from fans, furious that their beloved hoops were to be dropped. Four days later, Morton announced they would drop the controversial tops and invited supporters to vote for a replacement. The result is an unbranded first strip in traditional broad blue hoops with the addition of fine horizontal white lines. "Est1874" is printed onto the front of the shorts, the year of Morton's formation.

A goal in injury time brought Hibs victory in the Scottish Cup for the first time in over a century although the occasion was marred by the behaviour of some of their supporters after the final whistle.

75% of fans who took part in a poll voted in favour of a return to emerald green after two season in bottle green. The fluorescent change shirts bring to mind the "Sunshine over Leith" marketing campaign of a few years ago.

Supporters are delighted that their team will once again be wearing "proper blue" tops after six seasons in the lighter shade offered by Joma. The first choice kit features bespoke collar and cuffs while the change strip is from Macron's catalogue.

Raith have selected a truly awful change kit for this season. Basically a standard Puma template, the front of the shirt is made up of bands of fine white diagonal lines on a red field that get wider towards the waist. Its one redeeming feature is.....no, I've got nothing.

The first choice strip is unchanged.

The white first strip is a tribute to the Buddies team that won the Scottish Cup 30 years ago wearing similar shirts. The names of the players in that cup winning side are sublimated into the fabric. The black change shirts have a different gimmick: the paisley pattern, associated with the weaving industry in the town of Paisley since the 19th century is printed into the fabric.
