FIFA Women's World Cup 2015 Group B
Two time winners, Germany, were among the favourites for the competition and were number one in the FIFA rankings before the tournament began. They are known as Die Nationalelf but disappointingly for English speakers this is not a reference to mythological creatures, translating as National Eleven. Norway are also previous winners, having lifted the World Cup in 1995, the Olympics (2000) and the European Championships (1987, 1993). Thailand made their first appearance in the World Cup finals. Their first choice colours are red but the team wore their blue alternative strip, supplied by Thai company Grand Sport, in their three games. This was also the first time that Cote d'Ivoire had qualified.
