FIFA Women's World Cup 2015 Group A

2015 fifa women's world cup posterHosts Canada were seeded and to the delight of their supporters, topped the group although their path was by no means straightforward. China, who have appeared in six out of seven World Cup finals, and the Netherlands, appearing in the finals for the first time, also qualified for the next stage. New Zealand as usual had easily won the OFC Women's Nations Cup to secure Oceania's slot in the finals.

New Zealand took the lead but China were awarded a controversial penalty shortly before the interval and drew level. Wang Sanshan put China ahead on the hour but the Football Ferns fought back to equalise four minutes later. Although they finished strongly, New Zealand could not find the winner and were eliminated.
